COSCon Bridges East & West, Open Source Powers Now & Future
由开源社主办的 2018中国开源年会-COSCon'18 于 2018年10月21日在深圳圆满收官。本次二天大会总计 1,600余人次到场，在线视频观众总计 9,736人 (截至10月23日为止), 参加了11位国际大神, 61位国内大咖讲师的11场主题演讲，61场分会场演讲，5场高校代表闪电演讲, 3场动手训练营，2场论坛 (开源教育论坛, 开源硬件论坛)。
2018 China Open Source Conference, COSCon'18, was successfully concluded on Oct. 21st in Shenzhen China. Over 1,600 people attended this two-day exciting event on-site and 9,736 watched live-streaming videos on-line (as of Oct. 23rd, not including post-event playbacks) for 11 internationational and 61 domestic gurus who shared 11 keynote speeches, 67 breakout sessions, 5 lightning talking from 5 different university students, 3 hands-on camps and 2 forums (Open Source Education and Open Source Hardware).
COSCon'18 also witnessed the unveil of "2018 China Open Source Annual Report", the launch of "KCoin Open Source Contribution Incentivization Platform" and the ceremony of "Microsoft Donates Open Hackathon Cloud Platform to KAIYUANSHE", which is the first time a leading international corporation donating an open source project to a domestic community in China.
This conference got participation and support from many international and domestic communities, including Apache Software Foundation (ASF), Open Source Initiative (OSI), GNOME, Mozilla, FreeBSD and 20+ domestic communities. As of Oct. 23rd, there were more than 120,000 viewerships from the retweet of the articles published for the COSCon'18 by the domestic communities and more retweets to come from the international communities. We are grateful for these lovely community partners. The board of GNOME Foundation also sent a greeting video for the conference.

It is also excited to see that KAIYUANSHE, a ground-up, charitable, pure volunteer-based open source alliance, is gaining traction and support from the leading open source enterprises, such as Huawei (as the Strategic Sponsor), Baidu, JD Cloud, Tencent and Microsoft (as the Platinum Sponsor), Yinhe Kylin, Alibaba, Oushu Technology (as the Gold Sponsor), Hangzhou Crytape (as the Silver Sponsor), Didi and Bytom (as the Bronze Sponsor). Community media partners like InfoQ, CSDN, GitChat, LinuxCN, OSCHina, Juejin and 8byte promoted the conference heavily with full coverage. Tao Jiang, founder of CSDN visited the conference to conduct interview with Nat Friedman, CEO of GitHub, Ms. Sai Yang, led the InfoQ Binary Tree team to conduct a video story coverage for the whole event.

Having the China Open Source Conference is a gift for the 20-year anniversary of the birth of open source from the vast number of Chinese open source fans. In 2016, OSI officially announced that Kaiyuanshe becomes an OSI affiliate member in recognizing Kaiyuanshe's contribution in promoting open source in China. Over the years, the influence of Kaiyuanshe has been flourishing, and many developers have participated & contributed to its community activities. 2018 China Open Source Annual Report
开源社成员们自发地成立报告小组， 历时半年， 组织编写了多达2万字的《2018 开源年度报告》，从多种维度、多种方式、多社区协作方式来描述中国和全球的开源现状。在COSCon 2018大会上正式对外发布，并在 GitHub 上开源，欢迎更多的开源社区的成员们一起以开源协作的模式来为这份报告添砖加瓦。
2018 Open Source Annual Report was created by a group of volunteering Kaiyuanshe members in the past six months, which describes the status and dynamics of open source in China and around the world from multiple dimensions with contributions and inputs from multiple communities. The report was unveiled in COSCon'18 and is now open sourced on GitHub allowing more contributions in an open source collaboration way.

KCoin - Open Source Contribution Incentivization Platform
A blockchain-based open source contribution incentivization mechanism was launched at the COSCon'18. https://github.com/kaiyuanshe/kcoin
Three projects work hand-in-hand with the KCoin Platform. They are KFCoding - the next generation interactive developer learning community; ATN - an AI+Blockchain-based open source platform, and Dao Planet - a contribution-based community incentive infrastructure.
Open Hackathon Platform: An one-stop open source cloud platform for hosting or participating online hackathon activities. http://hacking.kaiyuanshe.cn. The open hackathon platform build from an internal Microsoft annual hackthon event in May 2015, and the first online hackathon event was held in December of the same year, followed by more than 10 hackathon and Hands-on-Lab camps. On October 21, 2018, Microsoft officially donated the Open Hackathon Platform to Kaiyuanshe at the 2018 China Open Source Conference.

Open Source 20-Year Anniversary Celebration Party
In the evening of Oct. 20th, the COSCon'18 speakers, sponsors, community partners, media partners and Kaiyuanshe directors and officers came together to celebrate the open source 20-year anniversary. Tony Wasserman from OSI and Ross Gardler from ASF shared their feeling about the long journey and blessing of open source and then Tony signed his name on the 20 Years of Open Source timeline board, followed by many OSS contributors and users who also put their footprint signatures on the OSS 20-year timeline as well as three other timeline board, i.e. ASF Projects (from China) Timeline, Open Source Hardware Timeline and Kaiyuanshe Timeline.
